Product Description

Boron trioxide
Alias: boron oxide, boric anhydride, anhydrous boric acid
Molecular formula: B2O3
Molecular weight: 69.62
Boron oxide: 98%
English names: Boron trioxide
CAS no. :  1303-86-2

Physical data of boron oxide:
Boron trioxide (chemical formula: B2O3), also known as boron oxide, is the most important oxide of boron. It is a colorless glassy crystal or powder, tasteless and greasy on the surface. It is one of the most difficult substances known to crystallize.
Boric acid can be produced by strong absorption of water in the air and can be reduced to single boron by alkali metal or magnesium and aluminum at high temperature.
Boron oxide soluble in acid, ethanol, hot water, slightly soluble in cold water, combining with several metals has the characteristics of the color of boron glass, with alkali, copper, silver, aluminum, * * *, tin oxide completely immiscible.
Crystalline boron oxide of the density of 2.46 g/cm3, the density of the amorphous boron oxide is 1.80 ~ 1.84 g/cm3, melting point: 557 ºC, 600 ºC, a viscous liquid, solubility: (g / 100 gh2o) : 1.1 (0 ºC), 15.7 (100 ºC), easy to water absorption, moisture absorption is cloudy after the state, is soluble in alcohol.
At low temperature, H3BO3 can be dehydrated to obtain boron trioxide crystals. This crystal containing BO4 tetrahedron structure unit, density 1.805 g · cm - 3, the melting point is 450 ºC (crystal).
Vitreous boron oxide, the density of 1.795 g cm - 3, soften the at higher temperatures when arrived at red high temperature becomes a liquid, the boiling point (ºC and atmospheric pressure) at 1860 ºC. Boron is also directly combined with oxygen to get B2O3.
Solubility: dissolve in water and become boric acid. Soluble in acid and alkali solutions.

Properties and stability of boron oxide:
1. The surface is slimy and tasteless. Soluble in acid, ethanol, hot water, slightly soluble in cold water. It is also not reduced by carbon when heat stabilizes white heat, but alkali metals, magnesium and aluminum can be reduced to simple boron. When heated to 600 ºC, can become great liquid viscosity. It can absorb water strongly in the air to form boric acid.
2,It can be combined with several metal oxides to form boron glass of characteristic color, which can be completely miscible with the oxides of alkali metals, copper, silver, aluminum, *** *, antimony, ratio and bismuth. Poisonous!

Application:
1,It is used as the auxiliary solvent for the decomposition of silicate, and the main raw material for the preparation of element boron and various borates.
2,It is used as a catalyst for organic synthesis and as a raw material for ceramic glaze.
3,It is mainly engaged in electronic chemicals for led, LCD, PDP and CRT.
4,It is used as raw materials for chemical heat treatment of boron - soluble agents in the mechanical industry.
5,It is used for the production of alloy steel in the metallurgical industry and for the manufacture of high-energy fuel.
6,Applications are made in other sectors of the national economy and in the nuclear and electronic industries.
7,Durable heat resistant glassware, ceramics, paint refractory additives, solder additives and high temperature lubricant additives.

Notes for storage and transportation:
1. This product is non-inflammable, non-explosive and can be stored and transported according to general chemical products.
2. In case of fire, you can use sand and carbon dioxide fire extinguisher.
3. This product has strong moisture absorption, and should be placed in a cool and dry place to prevent rain, moisture and accidental food.
4. Keep away from fire and heat source.
5. It should be stored separately from acids
6. The staff should take good care to protect themselves. If the skin and eyes are affected by any accident, they should immediately wash them with plenty of water.
